ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The main idea behind the "Re-Construction" collection is to, as the title suggests, reconstruct the past. By the term past, the artist is both alluding to the prehistoric past, but also to individual past of the viewers - childhood. The technique this artist is using is reduced and primitive, almost childlike. A variety of different shapes are carved into natural materials such as clay, giving the painting a very unique touch and texture. While working on this project, the artist was also inspired by prehistoric primitive skills and ways of expression. He is using natural materials such as clay, graphite and coal, which give this painting a beautiful, almost 3D, but also fragile texture. If some of the natural materials come off, the viewer can be surprised by new concepts hidden under the surface.
