ABOUT THE ARTWORK
An amazingly graceful hunter and scavenger, the Red Kite is native to Europe and Northern Africa. Their range has decreased and numbers have been in decline, but they are making a comeback thanks to breeding in reintroduction programs in the British Isles and continental Europe. This painting, which is done in a combination of India ink, acrylic, gouache, and pigment, is an attempt to capture something of what it would feel like to inhabit the sky as this bird does.
