Erzsébet Mezei biography, Ars Poetica Erzsébet Mezei was born in Székelykeve, Yugoslavia (now Serbia), as a descendant of the Székelys of Bukovina (Roumania). Although she lives in Zenta, her ancestors, by her own ancestry, preserve his own life, which he seeks to make known to the world through his creations. She graduated at the Fine Arts Department of the Teacher Training College in Novi Sad in 1971, then teach fine arts culture from 1971 to 2008 at the Thurzo Lajos Primary School in Zenta, Serbia. Not only in the school, but also in the Ceramic Camps she organized in the summers from 1983, the students sought to acquaint students with the values of Hungarian folk tradition, Hungarian ethnography and Hungarian folk music. Thanks to her work as an art organizer, she founded the civil organization of the Zentai Fine Arts Workshop in 2006 and the Zentai Art Workshop, which offers contemporary artists, applied artists and musicians the opportunity to discuss practical work, exchange experiences and discuss results. Artists from Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Croatia, Austria and Serbia also return to the art workshop year after year. She has deepened his graphic work since 1989. The most common technics of expression are monotype, montage graphics, and cold needl. Her first graphic exhibition was in Novi Sad in 1991, and she also introduced herself in Kecskemét, where she won the special prize of the Lakitelek Foundation at the graphic contest of József Katona. In 1996 she was awarded the TAKT Award, in 1999 she received the Forum Fine Arts Award and in 2009 she received the Pro Urbe Award from Zenta. She had 30 solo and 57 group exhibitions in Serbia, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, Slovenia, Croatia and Turkey. Her artistic belief: “The life approach I got at home, I want to consciously and instinctively retain, carry and translate, display and show through my creations. To open the world in which I can freely and emotionally display emotions and thoughts. Along my gentle, temperate and restrained color world, used solid shapes, recurring signals, sometimes with a different meaning. Building on signs and structures, I walk my own way, create my own world, in which colors, shapes, lights and thoughts are accompanied by their contradictions, the invisible, the elusive, which corresponds to the inner certainty that only the feelings testify to. This is my only true and free reality. ”
