Stephen Njenga initially worked as a design contractor.During that time he exhibited some of his work at City Hall and at The Gallery of Contemporary East African Art,Nairobi. He's also taught fine art and design in colleges, but then later went into painting full time. Making that decision meant that the artist had to extend his creative skills beyond representational work and start exploring themes and subject matter more significant to him. Still in the process of evolving his own style Njenga has increasingly got into expressionism and semi-abstract work, which enables him to compose with colors and contours in imaginative, expressive ways.He has since exhibited his art in many regions across East Africa,USA,Italy,Japan,Dubai and Netherlands,and his paintings are on permanent show at the Museum of Volkerkunde,Germany,and in private and public collections.
