Portrait remains my favorite subject ever since I transitioned from photographer to painter. I've always been fascinated with light and shadow; painting in oil instead of hitting the shutter button allows me to capture the human and the world around me in a more creative and profound way. Telling stories through the brush has opened a world of interpretation that I have embraced and continue to strive at. I moved to New York from Beijing, China, in 2015. Doing oil paintings landscapes and other genres has become a new way of exploring this great country. I really enjoy painting in the yard for studio work with my 2 miniature pinschers always on the hunt for squirrels. So you can be on the lookout for the rare occasion when pine needle or a fraction of dandelion that have found their way to become part of my paintings.
