ABOUT THE ARTWORK
"Rhianna" is an oil painting, the original is for sale as well as different sized prints. (and yes, her name is misspelled on purpose) "Rhianna" was inspired during a time when women were really standing up, standing out, and truly being themselves. I wanted to paint a strong, inspiring, and interestingly beautiful looking woman. I recall one day seeing a women that had beautiful long blue hair and I absolutely loved it; she was daring, herself, beautiful, and everything else I could think of. I wanted the key component of this piece to be her bright blue hair and the knowledge that she just couldn't be bothered. As I developed the painting more, I added in more abstract elements and tried to push myself conceptually along the way. She is drawn to people and people are drawn to her, eager to learn more about this mysterious beauty.

I am a 26 year old living in downtown San Diego. I grew up in LA county and went to school at UC Berkeley. I went into college as a collegiate soccer player with hopes of playing professionally. That did not come to fruition, so I began to think about what else I was passionate about, and that answer was art! I was successful in the art program with a lot of features in UC Berkeley's Art Gallery, Kroeber Hall. I had the incredible opportunity to study under great artists like John McNamara, Brody Reiman, Craig Nagasawa, Indira Morre, Randy Hussong, and many more. Once graduating in 2015, I decided to move back down south where I could be warm again and afford my rent :) Since being in San Diego, I leased my own art studio and became a working artist and curator. In 2018, I produced and curated 2 large galas in San Diego's oldest most historical art building, The Brokers Building Gallery. Both galas featured between 10-20 local and international artists. I recently decided to take a leap and become an Art Consultant for National Geographic, this job I did not enjoy so I am working on building as an artist and pushing myself to create consistently again.
