Genady Arkhipau studies fine art and art mediation at the Braunschweig University of Art. Driven by personal experiences of forced displacement, manual labor jobs, and a career in traditional art, and backed by theoretical studies in art history and art mediation, his current work addresses a wide range of issues—from political oppression and war, to religion, aesthetic autonomy, corporate culture, and capitalism. Before studying contemporary art, he was a traditional painter and worked with galleries in the USA and Belarus. His paintings were exhibited, among other places, in the Palace of Art in Minsk, Salmagundi Club and National Arts Club in New York, and the State Museum of Pennsylvania. Ongoing collaborative project Modular Sculpture for Democracy and Against Fascism was exhibited in Zagreb Contemporary museum of Art in May as part of the Arts of Resistance show founded by A Creative Europe Project CREA2027. Video installation Hybrid Sermon was on view in August at the Kunstverein DIE H_LLE in Braunschweig.
