ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This is the river Loup that runs through my village, La Colle sur Loup, which is between Nice and Antibes on the Cote d'Azur in South East France. A thing we do a lot in the summer is hang out by the river as it's so hot. The river attracts loads of people, locals and tourists, its cooler than being on the beach in July and August. I saw this couple who had moved their plastic chairs into the river to find a spot for themselves and to keep cool. Also perhaps to have an intimate moment and get away from the big groups having fun who you can see in the background. The guy was rolling a cigarette and they looked so cool and perfect I just had to paint this scene.

Born in 1969 in Singapore. I grew up in Devon in the South West of England. Since 1998 I've been living in the Alpes Maritimes in France where I do art projects with classes in schools and run art classes in my studio. I also take part in art exhibitions and cultural events in the region. Through my work in schools I have done a lot of explorations in art techniques, especially 3D and sculpture, a lot of papier mâché !! We have made some amazing things. This has led me to explore other materials in my own work. I regularly do commissions too
