Riverside houses Print

This oil painting depicts an old riverside mill falling apart with the ruins of a castle behind it. Since it is near the artist's studio it was largely painted in-situ at the side of the river Mosson in the south of France. Several sessions were necessary to capture the atmosphere and the light of the autumn late afternoon. The contrasts between light and shade, the sky, the trees and the reflections in the water were painted in flat color planes reminding us of a stained-glass window effect. Painted on a linen canvas with extrafine pigments this work is ready to hang.
