Conceptually, my idea was to create a portrait that was a blend of Robert Filliou and Moreno, addressing the cultural fusion between European Contemporary Art and Latin American Popular Culture. To achieve this, I drew inspiration from a portrait of Robert Filliou that appears in his work titled "Autoportrait bien fait, mal fait, pas fait" from 1973. Filliou was a French artist associated with the Fluxus movement and the creator of the "Galerie légitime," a mobile art gallery created in a paper hat. Meanwhile, Moreno is one of the last living members of the traditional Brazilian culture of the "cangaceiros," who were a group of outlaws that rebelled against the Brazilian government in the 20th century. The "cangaceiros" were legendary bandits in the Northeast of Brazil in the early 20th century. Living in a harsh and challenging landscape, they became symbols of resistance, justice, and sometimes wandering poets. From a chromatic perspective, I drew inspiration from the "The Disquieting Muses" by the metaphysical painter Giorgio de Chirico and the naïve folk art of Northeast Brazil. From a formal standpoint, I was slightly inspired by the portraits of absurd and darkly humorous characters by George Condo. I would like viewers to understand that there is a narrative within the history of art that deals with artists who have created their own museum spaces: Marcel Duchamp (Boîte-en-valise), Robert Filliou (Galerie légitime), and Marcel Broodthaers (Musée d'Art Moderne, Département des Aigles). To continue this narrative, I have created the Davis Museum Barcelona, the first contemporary art museum created in a ballot box and expanding through social media. The Davis Museum Barcelona includes various sections, including "The Paintings Section from Davis Museum," which focuses on artists who have created their own museums and their works.
