ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Rockets Six Panels - Is a 36 X 48in ( SIX TOTAL PANEL) piece combined into one wood surround frame and cannot be separated individually. Believe me when I say I have been asked in the past if the panels are sold separate. A pop art style modern work reminiscent and inspired through the works of Andy Warhol with bold colors and a repetitive image. I created the work in commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo Mission to the moon in July 1969. Instead of a silk screen the panels were drawn and painted individually by hand in retro colors giving it the nostalgic feel of the 60's and a mid century modern vibe. The moons are each 3D hand painted wood cut outs attached to the canvas. The USA Flags are individual metallic stickers with a thin foam background to stand out like the moon. I chose Acrylic and Oil Pens to mimic a classic iron on silk screen t shirt. At one point I had to put this work aside due to lack of supply color needed and Life in general. This is the only work in my collection that has taken me the longest to complete which was 2 years total. This is a great addition to a man cave, a gift for the space junkie or Dad's. A definite collector and conversation starter this piece will make a modern addition to your home. It is one of my favorite works and is in the Art San Diego California Art Fair for this Fall/ Sept 2022 show brochure only.

Barbara Lee Donovan Freelance Contemporary Artist- Statement The body of my work reflects from everyday surroundings or thoughts that manifest from memories, emotions to trends. A lifetime of being deeply detail oriented my art continues to metamorphosize as time goes by. Each project is grasped with research, dedication, passion, and one’s own self-motivation to take on the challenge to succeed. “Creating Art is hard work. Hate, love, repeat. Truly a power struggle. What a ride.” -----Barbara Lee Donovan Artist Bio-------- Barbara Donovan – a contemporary, American, professional working, published artist from Alexandria, Virginia. She is primarily self-trained with a lifetime of practice. Earliest influences and inspiration include: The Smithsonian’s, The Hirshorn Museum of Modern Art, The National Archives in Washington D.C., and the privilege to work with artists of IMAX cinematography, Guinness Book of World records, authors, musicians, and media specialists. Contributions of pieces to auction and gallery sales include: An American Cancer Society for Charity auction, Home Grown Art gallery, and numerous local stores around Northern Alabama. Barbara’s home studio is where she creates a variety of styles, composition, or object for local and private collectors nationwide. She is a chameleon of sorts with her unique works and has often been compared to Vincent van Gogh’s style as well. Her ever-expanding catalog can be found on Fine Art . Having a quick and sometimes sarcastic wit, Barbara is guilty of loving her family and her blessed life. Interests range widely from photography, making gourmet meals, growing large indoor house plants, re- interior designing the house to drive her husband crazy, biking, hiking beach walks at sunset, releasing baby turtles, and challenging her grandson in playing video games. If given the chance she says she would like to win a HGTV mansion giveaway somewhere exotic Including someone to clean it and the ugliest French Bulldog in existence. She says she will name the dog Mr. Guapo, which translates from in Spanish to Mr. Handsome. Barbara says laughing, she will most certainly have the French Bulldog at least someday.
