ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Among the traditional paintings of Korea, the paintings of the common people, not nobles or professional painters, are called minhwa. I like the clumsy but freewheeling expression of minhwas. Minhwas are complicated because they mainly contain the meaning of wishing for blessings. However, I looked at minhwas in a formative way and drew them lightly by disassembling each element. These rocks and waves refer to a part of Eobyeon Seongryongdo, a favorite theme in minhwas
