Rorschach Inkblot 1 Print

I work within a concept I invented, called MokshaShots. In eastern philosophy, ‘Moksha’ means salvation. A MokshaShot, by my definition, is a taste of the Sublime. I had this idea that we probably won’t get to full-fledged Moksha in this lifetime, but we can get a glimpse of it. Everyone can make their own MokshaShot out of anything they find fulfilling – art, chocolate, sex, a vacation, a Ferrari or a tequila shot! I've created deities called MokshaPets. Each of them represents an aspect of the Self. This work is part of the series titled ‘The Conquest of the Mind’. It represents the Rorschach Inkblot with the MokshaPet characters in it, with all their various psychological states and traits- a virtual MindMap if you will, of the drama within :) I like to work with acrylics on canvas as it is a very versatile medium- it can be used thin, like water colour or thick like oils as well as in many other techniques. I like to use pop art as a style as it is a visual language that is accessible across age groups and cultures. Also, it lends itself well to my view that we must not take the spiritual quest too seriously, or we might lose the pleasures of it!
