Minimalistic abstraction of concrete on raw natural linen, Berlin inspired. Painting to jazz rhythms, S. Mangelsen creates her very own and typical gestural abstractions, giving them a very personal touch of jazzy elegance, rhythm and finesse combined with a Berlin understatement vibe. Mangelsen‘s informal art appeals to introspection and evokes a both inner and outer dialogue with the viewer. SUBJECTIVE is a series created with gestural strokes and intensity in spate in a light understated palette of white and light beige or grey tones. In color and distinctive structural surface of raw concrete, it creates a vivid finesse of minimalistic decadence. Mixed media of S. Mangelsen's own recipe of light concrete and acrylic paint on raw natural linen. _________________________________________________ Signed, dated on the back and framed in a thin, raw basswood frame. Sophie Mangelsen creates her very own and characteristically gestural abstractions, giving them her very personal touch of elegance, rhythm and finesse, all in a Berlin understatement vibe. Her informal art appeals to introspection and evokes an inner and outer dialogue with the viewer - posing questions about consciousness and unconsciousness, harmony and disharmony, balance and imbalance - to inner landscapes of the complexity of our mind. Sophie Mangelsen, from Berlin, is additionally inspired on her journey by her experience as a psychologist and therapist. She studied at the Université Paris VIII and the University of Leipzig and found her form of expression in painting already in her youth. Her paintings are shown at international exhibitions and are in private collections around the world. In 2022 she was invited as a jury member in the international competition of BALTHASART. The artist lives in Berlin Kreuzberg.
