About the Artist

Alla Ostrovsky

Israel

I am inspired by art itself—the study of Renaissance masters’ techniques, Leonardo da Vinci’s sfumato, the unparalleled craftsmanship of Dutch painters, and the essence of life conveyed through color and form. I am fascinated by how paint can influence the viewer’s emotions and mood, as well as my own.

I work with oil, tempera, and acrylic, using Old Masters’ techniques. The careful combination of seemingly incompatible materials allows me to create multilayered, rich paintings where light appears to emanate from within. Tempera provides delicate, luminous shades, while oil adds depth and soft transitions. I paint on MDF or canvas, as these surfaces ensure the necessary smoothness and a complete absence of brushstrokes. Each painting is varnished to enhance color vibrancy and protect the paint layer.

In my new works, I strive to preserve artistic heritage while continuing the traditions of classical painting. I want my paintings to inspire, soothe, and provoke thought. Some viewers may see light and harmony, while others may feel deep emotions. What matters most is that art creates personal associations and becomes a part of the space where it lives. Whether it is a masterpiece reproduction or an original work, the key is that the painting resonates with the viewer’s soul.
