Bangladesh
Tanmoy Mitra is an art practitioner based in Bangladesh. In his artistic practice, he has a tendency to travel all the branches of visual art. He tries to use all of his life experiences as his spirit or source of art. So, always he transforms his memories, activities, thoughts, and ideas into his distinctive visual language to create something that would be a new form of art. Besides, in the case of practice knowledge, he also tries to explore all the branches of knowledge. That's the reason he likes to work with many disciplines, techniques, and processes. As a passionate artist, he sees possibilities everywhere. So, any limitations are not limitation to him. Rather in his art practice, he always tries to use the limitations of life as his strength. He thinks sometimes our limitations help us to find many new paths or ways. He thinks about everything neutrally, relatively, and philosophically. As a relativist, or neutral thinker, or philosopher, or searcher, or researcher, the process of thinking and rethinking are so important to him. He is concerned about political issues, historical issues, cultural issues, and many social issues. He is very interested in critical thinking, always he likes to think about everything critically. As a critical thinker, he always criticize his thoughts; and breaks his own ideas to create new ideas. Generally, he likes to express his thoughts and emotions in his artworks through a kind of interdisciplinary approach and postmodern understanding. Though he doesn't want to limit himself within any ism or style. Also, he doesn't like to see himself as a slave of medium. He just does what his concept demands to express his ideas. He uses any media those are relevant to express his concept. His mind is always open to accept anything important or relevant to his thoughts and ideas. So he is ready to take help from the classical period to the contemporary period. He rethinks about every ism, style, or idea of art. Especially the ideas of abstraction, abstract expressionism, minimalism, conceptual art, interdisciplinary art, multidisciplinary art, installation art, site-specific art, video art, performance art, and postmodern art, those all are provoked him to rethink about them. So he wants to take knowledge from them to create new forms of knowledge in his style. And always he finds new artistic ways, forms, expressions, and languages to express his thoughts, feelings, and emotions.
