Back in 1866, Jack Daniel’s became the first registered distillery in the United States. Today, it’s the top-selling American whiskey in the world. A little know fact is the story of Nearest Green, a slave, who taught Jack Daniel’s how to make whiskey and became the first master distiller for Jack Daniel’s Distillery. Another surprising fact, is that it’s not possible to buy a drink of Jack Daniel’s in the county in Tennessee where it is produced because by law it’s a dry county.
