Self Authenticity Print

This painting is very much about the practice of, not only being our authentic selves, but completely loving ourselves as we are. This is an on-going moment by moment practice. There are gold mica flakes in this painting representing the gold deep within you that is your authentic self. The circle in the top left hand corner represents the experience often described in detail in Buddhism whereby we repeat patterns and learn, again and again. The turquoise rivers of transparent watery colour support the flow of energy towards you speaking your truth, from your authentic self. I learned something fascinating the other day about the emotional states of being we embody our authentic selves. (I found this information via Richard Swartz’s book ‘No Bad Parts’ and of note, he is the developer of the therapy known as IFS.) When we are in authentic self we embody these core ways to being: • Curiosity • Compassion • Confidence • Creativity • Connectedness • Courage • Calmness I was sharing this information with a friend the other day and thinking to myself: When I am feeling these emotions listed that tell me I’m in my authentic self, this would be a good time to make important decisions. This original painting is part of my Little Gems Series, paintings are my practice pieces. Small studies exploring new ideas and practicing old ones - just like musicians do vocal exercises or practice their scales, this is a painter’s practice so-to-speak. They are infused with the joy, love and passion that I feel in the studio and that energy is imbued into the painting, my gift to you!
