ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This is an example of how one practice over time flows into a completely different direction, transforms and changes. First there was a photograph. Photography has become a significant, deep and visual component in my work. It became an instrument with two meanings: both an active element of the process of searching and creating images, and the absolute opposite of painting. This is rather not a practical experience, but a sensual one. The freedom to move away from the rational, from the likeness and strict framework, to deform reality on one's own intuitive level. Separate the figure from the figurative to move to another emotional level. Separate the figure from the figurative to move to another emotional level. The artist explores the aesthetic aspects of the female body based on her own feelings.

Irina Depko is a contemporary artist and photographer of Ukraine, lives and works in Ukraine, Poland. Born 1990 in Lviv, Ukraine. Irina pursues her own vision, her artistic maturity resulting in strong canvases capturing themes in a broad abstract-figurative style using colour combinations to express her vital aesthetic views. The career of photography marked the beginning of a new round in Irina's work, as now her works have become motifs for paintings. Because the artist loved to photograph women, this inspired her to create a picturesque collection of "Figures". This collection is plastic, like gymnasts and dancers from Irina's photos. With the advent of new themes, the artist didn’t stop working on the existing collection of landscapes. The artist also emphasizes that she likes to work on two collections at the same time, as they give different emotions and depend on the source of inspiration. With the rapid increase in the number of landscape paintings, the collection received additional gradation and now landscape collection is divided into subcollections with marine, urban and natural motifs. In 2018, Iryna began to actively express herself on online art platforms, the very first was the American online gallery Saatchi art. Later, the French gallery Singulart and Artmajeur started collaborating with Iryna as well. As a result, new countries and continents have appeared in the geography of the artist's work. Thus, in 2021, Irina's paintings found their place in the private collections of art connoisseurs from Italy, Spain, Estonia, Poland, Great Britain, the USA, and Ukraine.
