About The Artwork
Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of creepy and paranormal podcasts (Let’s Get Haunted, Keep It Weird, and Let’s Not Meet) and in general consuming a lot of spooky content, so I felt like making a painting focusing on that. This one is of a shadow person- basically a humanesque form that only appears as a shadow. I’ve always considered them to be a kind of ghost or phantom, other people have opinions ranging from demons to sleep paralysis hallucinations. I didn’t have a real reason behind painting this other than continually having an image repeating in my mind of a shadow person just standing in the corner, based off of my own real life paranormal encounters. Whether a believer or a skeptic, I hope you enjoy the painting, it’s definitely different from some of my other content.

Heidi Vance (b. 1997) is an emerging interdisciplinary artist currently located in the Orlando, Florida area. She is currently a graduate student at Northumbria University for a MA in Conservation of Fine Art (works on paper). She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art with a minor in Art History at the University of Central Florida. Much of her work is influenced by her interests in art conservation, art history, artists’ materials, and the human condition. Her specialization is in painting but she has additional experience in the following disciplines: book arts, printmaking, drawing, and mixed media. Her work has been shown both online and in various venues within the Orlando area.
