My art revolves movement, spontaneity and authenticity. I begin painting with bold gestural marks and as the piece moves along, the marks get less frequent and a little more thought out. I think about how much I need to say and when is the right time to stop so that the piece can be kept fresh, intuitive and authentic. I try to leave the painting be at that stage where it feels complete but very pure. I ask myself how much I need to say, what I gain from saying more versus leaving part of the story to be told by the viewer. I like to think of art as a shared creation.
Abstraction is something I am attracted to for it is completely unique and mysterious It leaves me completely free to move the composition around, to play with shapes and to explore the medium in itself. I am also very interested by what unique image can take form in the moment without any preconception. Abstraction is one of my favourite vehicles to allow for expression and exploration all at once.
