ABOUT THE ARTWORK

In the Middle East, where I grew up, Sharkyia is a strong eastern wind that occurs seasonally and with a sudden onset. Dry and dusty with sudden strong gusts, it can kick up sand thousands meters high and cause violent flash storms on the Sea of Galilee. It can be gone in a few hours or linger for days. The metaphor of sharkyia as an inner storm has stuck with me for years. While I always treasured this state of high energy and gleeful destructive urge, it is only in the recent years that I've been consciously nurturing it and channeling it into creation.
