ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This painting is part of a series of works. This series is my exploration of the image of the sheep in our culture. The image of a sheep is found in Christianity, symbolizing a righteous person following a spiritual pastor. This character is also found in our culture as a stupid and weak-willed person who is easy to manipulate. In my work, I explore this image of a sheep from different angles, in focus, without other animals and shepherds to understand why they are so similar to us. • Unframed oil painting on gallery wrapped natural linen canvas. • The side of the picture is covered with an image. • Hanging hardware is included. • Will be shipped in cardboard box. • Includes Certificate of Authenticity.

My creative pseudonym is Evgeniia Bova. My love for painting and successful education in art school defined the creative direction of my life. I found professional fulfillment in photography and graphic design. However, I fully realized all my knowledge and potential in painting, which I have dedicated myself to since 2015. I actively pursue my professional career, and my paintings are held in private collections in Russia, the USA, the UK, Canada, Australia, France, as well as in the collection of the magazine Russian Gallery XXI Century and the collection of the Non-Profit Foundation for the Promotion of Domestic Culture and Art. Since 2019, I have participated in group offline and online exhibitions. I explore the inner states of a person by comparing them with natural forms, creating paintings where reality flows into semi-abstract images. My non-figurative works resonate with the legacy of Georgia O'Keeffe, whose depictions of flowers and natural motifs created a balance between realism and abstraction. Like O'Keeffe, I find a source of visual meditation in natural objects, conveying complex psychological states through soft lines and delicate colors. In other works, women's faces are surrounded by vegetal elements, which become metaphors for emotions and the dynamics of the inner world. Experiments with mediums give rise to graphic and textured works, where the tendency to express emotional states through metaphorical natural lines remains evident. This approach contributes to the creation of works in which logic and intuition merge, forming multilayered structures of meaning. I do not aim to impose a specific narrative on the viewer, leaving room for personal interpretation and emotional response.
