ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Commissioned by a private collector, "Ship. Wrecked." was inspired by an old seafaring tale the collector was reading about a fateful attempt to round Cape Horn at the southernmost tip of South America where the currents from both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans converge. The painting portrays the exact moment when the ship runs into a shoal and is at once pummelled by huge waves on both sides.

Lives and works in Thornhill, Ontario, Canada – just a bit north of Toronto. After many years of writing fiction and sculpting, I decided to follow in my mother’s footsteps and paint. She made beautiful oil on canvas landscapes. I was inspired by the early images from the James Webb telescope. They absolutely blew me away. The universe is so expansive and turbulent it boggles comprehension! These are images that no human has ever seen.
