I channeled Georgia O’Keeffe’s world view in her series “Sky Above Clouds” where she was fascinated by the view of our planet from 30,000 feet on her travels around the world. In my most recent painting “Sky Above Arctic”, it doesn’t have the optimism of O’Keeffe’s world view in the 1970s, but it i...

Stabenow is an abstract artist represented by BeatyAmerican in Olde Kensington, Philadelphia. Her paintings include a series of Arctic landscapes which are based on images of arctic glaciers, tundra, and sea ice mainly in Greenland and Iceland. She has been selected as the featured artist for the BeatyAmerican new space with NEXTFAB at 1800 American Street, Philadelphia. Stabenow is drawn to the relationship of the arctic sea, land, and sky and the interface among these bodies. Decisions are made what features and elements will remain and what will be discarded, reflecting a rapidly changing landscape, yet still beautiful. Earlier work focused on urban landscapes, refineries, bridges, buildings, other structures, and geometric patterns of the developed lands and built environments. Stabenow works with oil paint on wood panels with cradled frames, and paints wet on dry establishing texture and depth using brushes, palette knives, oil sticks, oil pens, and rags. Completed paintings are professionally framed and ready to hang.
