ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I was always affascinated by the russian dachas of the 19th century with their verandas and the tea parties around a table illuminated by a lampshade. The oil lamp is another symbol of that epoch. Reading a book on veranda during the long autumnal evenings must be a beautiful experinece. The phrases from the book are flying away together with the smell of the burnt lamp's oil. Pages fragments were attached to the finished painting using the golden watercolor ground. This work is unframed, signed with a pencil on the front.

I was born and raised in Russia. After the PhD graduation in scientific area I moved to Italy where I live to this day. Like every child I loved painting and dreamed to attend classes at the art school, but obviously my parents had a different idea regarding the after-school activity. So for years I has been painting occasionally convinced that without the graduation from an art school I have no chance to create anything worth to show. Only few years ago, when my scientific career stopped due to the birth of my first child, I started to explore watercolor more seriously, initially as a self-taught and then by attending classes and webinars at a Russian online art school. When I discovered the art of the famous English watercolor painter Jean Haines there was the real breakthrough in my art journey. She has helped me to discover the joy to create with watercolors and her art has an important impact on my art style. So I’ve become a true watercolor addicted and since then painting is an important part of my life and personality. I really enjoy the process of painting because I love watching watercolor running around and mixing! I love experimenting with different watercolor products to enrich my paintings. I love bold, brilliant shades which permit me to fill the paintings with positive energy and joy!
