About The Artwork

My love for fly fishing and fast sketching come together as I change the way you see fish portrayed. This painting of a Snook faces up, similar to the typical portrait alignment of a person or subject matter. The fast lines evoke speed of the fish and the motion of the water, while setting the subject in its familiar space and colors of water. The art is setup for hanging (wire) and works well as an unframed "Hero" piece in any setting. This is part one of an ongoing series.

Born and raised on the coast in New Jersey, Chris was trained at Maryland Institute College of Art, Montclair State University and SCAD. He was trained in traditional illustration, and along the way learned the art of airbrush illustration. Chris is most at home with a paintbrush, drumstick or fly rod in his hand, being self-taught in the latter two. It is the third of these that comes through strongest in Chris’s creative endeavors. Always near to the water; never far from the surf. Perhaps because those who truly find their home on the water tend to find difficulty finding the separation between it and day to day life. It is this spirit that is portrayed in Chris’s work. A hunter of the elusive: time on the water; the quarry; the life lived in pursuit of both. Currently residing in the Tampa Bay Area, Chris enjoys taking advantage of all the area has to offer to feed his creative tendencies.
