ABOUT THE ARTWORK

In this vibrant canvas, I've melded acrylics and oils to capture the essence of a moment suspended in time. The realism breathes life into the scene, while the figurative approach invites contemplation. A dialogue of colors and shapes whispers stories of past elegance, each brushstroke infusing your space with depth and a timeless narrative, awakening the walls with its fine art allure. The story of this canvas is about childhood and feeling safe. It leaves its mark through the small child's drawing and the body length meter that was drawn on the wallpaper. Although it has been processed very modestly, it brings intimacy.

Mieke Jonker (1963) started her creative career as a goldsmith (Vakschool Schoonhoven 1999-2003). After graduating Academy of Fine Arts, Arendonk, Belgium/portrait/modellclass(2013), she entirely focused on painting. One of her artworks was nominated for the Alphons Winter prize. The painting was on display at the "Province House" in Maastricht.(2013) One of her artworks was nominated for "The Painting of the Year 2015 of the Netherlands" The painting Because of the dog XI, is on display with other finalist at the CODA Museum in Apeldoorn. In 2017 'Meanwhile in the abbey V' was nominated for 'Painting of the year 2017'and ended on place 10. She has been inspired by the great Dutch painter Rembrandt, especially because of his beautiful compositions, colors and above all because of his signature. Her paintings in oil, are build up in several transparant layers. By using harmonious colors, a strong composition and her own signature, she tries to achieve a moving serene atmosphere in a painting. @ jonkermieke
