I happened to be head to Southwark bridge across the Thames, and discovered it was a day that historically the Free Men of the City of London were entitled to drive sheep across the bridge into the City. This tradition carries on now, with herds of sheep being walked across the bridge with red-cloaked members of the wool guild looking on.
