This knife painting started out as an abstracted Edisto Beach sunrise painted softly with brushes (and the alkyd oils which are my favorite). It was too soft and understated and I attacked it with my painting knife to make it more dynamic, windy, choppy; it turned out similar to a previous abstract ocean scene, hence the "II" in the title, but its knife work is far more bold and primary in colors than its predecessor. As I grow as an artist, I'm trying to make my paintings more about a response to the world, to love, to loss, and to this journey we're all on, and I hope this one comes close to the mark. It's about the salt spray, the jarring heat and shocking light of the sun on a hot morning on the beach, and it's about the contemplative, wistful feelings such a place inspires. Those kind of thoughts inspired the original title "Stained Glass Sunrise", and hence this one is titled "Stained Glass Sunrise II". I hope you enjoy its heat and color!

I am a a visual artist living and working in Cumming, Georgia, in the U.S. I studied art in college and have had my work in various galleries and shows down through the years, but primarily have sold through various online venues in the last five years. I wish I could say I have a consistent style and focus right now, but my art is in a confused state of change right now as I approach the end of my parenting years and face my "what do I want to do next?" years. I love many different subjects, especially landscape and florals, and my style tends to be soft realism which borders on impressionism or at times, even abstraction. So enjoy browsing through my various pieces of art, and know that they represent views that I love to share about the world, love, and heaven.
