So.. I was thinking about this one and it reminds me of the 'Punch and Judy Show' I don't know if you have this outside the UK but children would sit outside this tent which had a stage on it. A bad and ugly guy would beat his wife with a club..yes honestly.. the kids would cheer and encourage more beating etc. Anyway so here maybe a modern day show.. we watch the screen and get beaten up by the endless violence and ugliness of the virtual world or the same from the TV.. The title is a reference to Marilyn.. So.. go figure.. 'Figures in a Souk' is a series of experimental oil paintings. I start out only to paint . The figures emerge from the canvas as the process develops. I usually like to paint over existing works of mine as that provides a unique starting point and existing textures and gestures.

My paintings are imagined rather than observed. They are expressive and colourful. It's all about the painting process, applying colour, using texture, making marks. the texture on the surface. The paintings develop over time. They may appear finished at one point but then later are reworked. The work you like may have been several other versions during its lifetime. My enduring influences are many but include mostly Turner, Rembrandt and Rothko. All my paintings are painted around the edges and therefore may not need framing.
