'Stellar Mystery' is part of the 'Galaxy' series. I have always been inspired by the use of Gold, White, and Black and how these colors interact with one another when used together in an acrylic pour. The addition of blue to this combination results in a beautiful mystery in the work. In this series, the paint is poured onto the canvas and is then manipulated through movement and other techniques to result in an unexpected outcome over several hours to a few days (depending on dry time) The paint has been allowed to spill over the sides of the canvas to emphasize the immediacy of the technique A high gloss varnish has been applied to protect the work and provide a glass-like finish This painting, signed on the back, is ready to hang with the wire attached. Please Note: - The in situ images are for display purposes only to show the work in different interiors and/or with suggested frames if desired. Please refer to the exact size of the work provided in the description.

Born in Montreal, Quebec, Joyce is an internationally collected Multidisciplinary Painter and Sculptor living and working in Toronto. While her main focus is Abstract Expressionist painting, she also has a passion for sculpting and drawing the human form for which she was academically trained. Over the last twelve years, Joyce has exhibited in solo and group shows within Canada and internationally. Featured on several occasions in American Art Collector magazine since 2009, her work is found in private and public collections in Canada, the USA, and Europe. STATEMENT "My paintings are Abstract Expressionist and entirely conceptual. They are bold and passionate created with conviction in response to a specific emotion or state of being. Working medium to large in size I start by randomly applying heavy-bodied Gesso to the canvas to create a geometric design. I then use this design as a template for acrylic paint application. I rarely use colour directly from the tube and prefer instead to mix my own. I feel this lends an intimacy to the work. Using large brushes and/or palette knives I allow some paint to drip while scraping out various areas to reveal the underpainting. My goal is to say as much as possible without having a big discussion. I want people to see what uniquely speaks to them, depending on their own situation. People see different things in my work. Movement, Colour, and Passion are words I often hear people use when they speak about my work. I have been most influenced by the great Abstract Expressionists of post-World War II America. Specifically, I feel my work most resembles what one would see if Robert Motherwell, Franz Kline, and Hans Hofmann had collaborated to paint something together."
