ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Henri Matisse fascinated me with his ability to capture fruit in its essence. Not like a hyper realism photo-like oil painting, his still life was an expression of the life within. In this small, simple, oil on canvas still life from 1986 I tried to find the same essence from the fruit I got from Aldi in Düsseldorf while visiting the art academy there.
