This painting needed a little extra care. Glad it's finished. I also updated the title. ”Story of a young woman, outside, looking in.” It's a story about inclusion, mainly how we define boundaries that exclude others. It's about moments we have felt excluded, and ways we have pushed through to ensure that we were heard. It is a very human story to which we all relate.

I use Yoruba principles of art in my work. Some are Ona (the embellishment of form), Ara (creativity), Ere (improvisation), pipe (completeness) and tutu (coolness). I draw inspiration from the work of the 1960s Bay Area figurative expressionists (Diebenkorn, Oliveira, Brown, Wonner, Bischoff, Park etc) as well as Henri Matisse and Mark Rothko.
