Andrea Schmidt, ON Canada. ARTIST STATEMENT My work as a graphic designer of printed materials for over 10 years has allowed me to develop a lifelong love affair with working with colour and the principles of good design. Abstract painting has developed into a natural extension of my graphic design practice. Starting with a vision of colour combinations and calling on my inner resources of intuition and trust (and humbleness), I aspire to create art that makes a person feel beautiful and hopeful inside while at the same time enjoying myself. My philosophy during the art making process is "there is nothing you can do that is wrong". Currently my preference is for limited colour palettes, highly layered, and often textured works. You can ask me about my pricing structure. All paintings are created with artist acrylics on gallery stretched canvas, and upon sale are accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
