This work is part of an ongoing series exploring brushwork methods. Brushstrokes are applied attempting to replicate by hand the motions of a mechanical process. The resulting irregularities and quirks create the captivating pattern and composition seen in these works. Each piece is first spray painted to provide a colour base on which the acrylic strokes are added. The name is derived from the visual composition either during or after painting. In this case, the strokes are reminiscent of strobing lights in the nightclub fog, blurred by ones own shaky vision. This is a unique hand painted piece, which is also hand signed in the corner. This work is produced on archival quality textured 250gsm heavyweight paper (A3 size), using Montana spray paints for the base colour, and Golden / Liquitex artist quality acrylics for the brushwork. Please note prints are adjusted to suit a 3:4 ratio (as per the main image). For a Fine Art Paper Print version of the this work, see the similarly titled artwork: Strobe III (borderless) It is suggested to hang the painting in a frame without glass to better highlight the glossier elements. The painting can also be mounted on a floating or tray frame for an impactful shadow.

Nikolai Almeida is an abstract painter based in London. He works primarily in acrylics, with his artistic works characterized by two distinct styles: The first is is a blurring of reality into abstraction, initially inspired by interplay of light in a dense forest landscape, this branched out to a herringbone pixelation of scenes in ethereal colourscapes. In his second style, a systematic brushwork method is used to craft pleasing compositions, often without a particular subject matter or focus in mind. Nikolai is a practicing architect in the UK, balancing the grand scale of architecture with the intricate details of his art. His influences span a diverse spectrum of creators who share his appreciation for the process-driven nature of art. For Nikolai, art isn't an escape; it's a vibrant lifeline that enriches his architectural creativity. His paintings challenge perceptions, offering glimpses into the boundless possibilities of the abstract.
