Studland Beach Dunes #1 Print

Oil painting on canvas board. This painting is inspired by one of the beautiful beaches local to me in Dorset. I wanted to depict the combination of wild grasses and sandy dunes that lead to the sea. I find our coastline often more interesting during stormy weather, Fall/Winter, sunrises and sunsets. It is beautiful during Summer sun, but often crowded with tourists and doesn't evoke emotions or encourage thoughtful moments in the same way. I'm inspired by these quiet, isolated times. When the environment speaks to you or clears your mind. These are the moments I strive to capture. This painting is an exploration in style and medium. By using the paint in a different way to my previous Studland Beach painting, I'm learning more about the medium and how I can portray a feeling or moment.
