Subliminal Series IV, Number 17 Print

This piece marks a turning point in my style and an expansion in my colour palette by embracing dark tones in a manner to enhance it's depth by making it vibrant in how it is explored / expressed on the canvas. Have managed to retain the key elements of how I prefer the final visual results. This is working somewhat half blind since the final image only becomes clear once the work has had its final mark completed. This new method that I have embraced entails working in layers and stages, and with each step anxiety levels go up with increased uncertainty if it will come out how I want it to. On the flip side it is also the part that is exciting, the mystery and surprise awaits in the end. As you can see from the piece that it conveys uniqueness, is refreshingly different dark yet vibrant (from my perspective), with just the right balance of strokes, use of shades and technique. Made with acrylic paints on canvas, and surface has soft texture hence very tactile. In the photo there is some light glare which I found difficult to avoid, hope the image can be viewed in one's mind without the light glare. This painting will be shipped unframed to minimise any unexpected damage during transit.
