About The Artwork

currently on exhibition at Chop Chop Salon 830 N La Brea, LA CA 90038 There is an image of a girl on the salt pot. I love that girl. This painting comes hot on the heals of a painting I did and quickly sold called The King. I was inspired by a painter, sadly I do not remember her name, at a expo in London. She made quick, perfectly simple drawings in paint of girls faces. I was struck by the simplicity of it. What discipline I’d need to stop at perfect and walk away. Or perhaps she was selling paintings so quickly she needed to be swift. This is a formula. An icon. She is a pair with Might; a similar painting of her bother.

Amy Bernays lives and works in Los Angeles, California. Born in London, she graduated with a BA(honors) in Fine Art from Central St Martins College in 2001. Her paintings are landscapes of personal interaction; poems to the love of line. Working with non-linguistic communication such gesture, body language, lingering looks and gossip. Her work is anthropological and personal, ponderings on the great themes of life, love and leisure. AKA Amelia Bernays Pitti (what systemic sexism?)
