ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This was a beautiful view of Lavender fields stretching into the horizon. I was on holiday in France when I saw this breathtaking view. It was a hot summers day, not a cloud in the sky and the purple of the Lavender fields made a statement against the contrasting blue of the sky. I sketched the view making notes of the colours and the composition. I then worked it up and finished it in my studio and painted it in oils. You could almost smell the intoxicating smell of the Lavender and hear the bees buzzing in the distance.

My childhood was spent in Sussex where I developed a love of the rolling hills and country side. After Art college I moved to London where I continued painting. I discovered pastel painting a few years ago which I love for its brilliant pure colours. I found the light and rich colours of the South of France could be caught using using this medium. After visiting New York, where I had an exhibition , I was very interested in the awesome buildings and am currently painting a series of cityscapes of New York and London.Patricia is influenced by the French Impressionists.Working in oils and pastels, producing still lifes, landscapes and nudes of scenes that range from Twickenham to St.Tropez, Patricia's resulting work reflects the vibrant colours and brilliant light of the South of France.Patricia was recently made a member of the Society of Women Artists.
