“Summer Love” This artwork is part of a series of artworks I created in memory of my mother. I have always had a very difficult relationship to her and my childhood with her was traumatic and violent since she suffered from alcoholism and manic depression. However, she has not always been like this. When she was younger she used to be a happy, charismatic and beautiful woman. I my series I am trying to express her charisma and charm in her younger years. This is a way for me to see my mother differently and brings me closer to her. Also, it deals with my own identity and similarities between her and me. In order to make the artwork authentic, I used old photographs of my mother and projected them on photo paper. Then I painted the rather fade projection in a scribbling style with acrylics pencils. By using a mixture of photography and painting I want to combine the aspect of "reality" and "memory". Reality in that sense that the artwork is based on a real picture and resembles my mother and memory is represented by the scrawling style, because memory is never accurate, just a perception or even impression we have of a moment or a sequence of moments.

Lena Snow is a fine artist based in Germany who currently has her studio in a small town on the edge of the Black Forest (near Baden-Baden) where she is working on her latest artworks while keeping in touch with nature. Lena is specialized in female portraiture and sensual art with her main medium being paper. She earned a Master's degree at the University of Mannheim and Karlsruhe. "I explore various aspects of femininity and female identity in my paintings. My inspiration are personal stories of women I encountered, but also female characters in mythology, film, and literature. They are a new, powerful, and emancipated approach of one’s identity and sexuality, and at the same time they stand for empowerment for all women. For a long time only men have painted women, neglecting their personal stories of ambivalence, trauma and multifaceted nature, but it is time that women change the narrative and capture their unique stories by contributing to a new, empowered expression of elevated femininity." Lena has exhibited internationally, and has been published in several art and lifestyle magazines around the world. The award-winning artist is also editor of the international art magazine Goddessarts Magazine.
