Mystery and immediacy are of the utmost importance to me here. There is a narrative, and it is up to your imagination to find it. I am hoping you will let yourself play with the characters you see. This painting is loosely based on a sketch I made at an outdoor performance of "A Midsummer Nights Dream". it also includes of a bottle of Eau de Vie, a rabbit skull, a Victor and Rolf dress, but more important is the emotional response expressed in weather and changing skies. Somebody watching and looking. Life is delicate and keeps changing like the seasons. Feelings are heightened in summer and we feel more alive. On this painting, I worked in a fresh expressionistic manner, drawing with the paint, remembering how much I loved Toulouse Loutrec's big paintings at the Musee d'Orsay in Paris and their immediacy, movement and vibrancy.
