ABOUT THE ARTWORK

SHIPPING AND RETURNS

I recently spent a summer on the North and South Forks of Long Island to be near my son who was injured in a car accident. The land there is beautiful with rich farmlands and wonder it became the center for abstract expression artists decades ago and continues to inspire many artists who work there...

I have always loved to draw and paint. I was born on Long Island and now reside in North Carolina as a self employed artist. I have studied at the Art Students League and the Fashion Institute of Technology both in New York City, and have a degree in Fashion Illustration and a Fellowship in Folk Art Studies from the American Folk Art Museum in New York. I also was a resident artist at The Studio in Apex, North Carolina. I love American Folk Art. My paintings are often inspired by the fresh, direct and imaginative work of folk art painters. Sometimes I use a scratching technique, like scraffito on pottery to give texture to my work. I am an intuitive painter. I paint in response to the inner leading of the spirit within me. I rarely have an idea in my head as I approach my canvas. that being said, I believe that as an artist pursues their craft with intention and integrity they will be rewarded with vision and skill to create a thing of beauty and truth. As an abstract painter, I enjoy working in acrylic the most, yet I like the diversity of all the mediums that are out there in the market. As a creative person I am always challenged to explore new techniques which sometimes means leaving the old behind. I think the best painters are the risk takers. It's the best place to be and where the real rewards are for the artist.
