ABOUT THE ARTWORK
“Summer” was inspired by the balmy summer days of lockdown 2020, when all we could see of the world was an intensely blue sky over our patch garden. Occasionally, a seagull would fly freely above us, reminding us of times when we too could get out and see the world. The painting is signed on the front, and signed, titled and dated on the back. It measures 39.5 x 39.5 x 1.5 inches and the edges of the canvas are painted. A signed certificate of authenticity is included with the artwork. I create my artwork using 380gsm acid-free 100% cotton canvas pre-stretched and primed with staple free edges, specifically designed for acrylics. I use professional quality, purely pigmented Golden Heavy Body acrylics with excellent fade resistance and finish artwork with Golden Archival Varnish for dirt, dust and moisture resistance.

My first memory as an ‘artist’ came when I was 9 and Sr Assumpta, Headmistress at Holy Cross Sisters’ Junior School in Bellville praised me in front of the whole school assembly for the mural that I had made which was displayed above the entrance to the school hall.
