«Shadows of Ancestors» is an author’s series of works of art by Оlexandra, on which work began in 2014. The basis of each picture is the image of a woman who seems to emerge from the past and permeate the present. Different, unique, each with its own destiny and worldview as if contemplating the shadows of the past and silently transmitting the accumulated collective wisdom for future generations. Among the depicted are majestic figures of prominent Ukrainian writers, princesses, and public figures. The original idea of conveying the image of femininity intertwined with the symbols of ancient Slavic mythology and with the symbols of Christianity, the use of elements of folk art, demonstrates the inextricable link between past, present, and future. The artist raises an important issue of gender and describes the role of women in the family of our ancestors, the issues of her spirituality, identification, and self-realization. The picture "Summer" symbolizes the fruitful time of life. The woman in the picture forms a circle with her hands in which the birds make a nest. Calmly and firmly looks at the viewer, demonstrating openness and confidence.
