Sunbathing Flower - Series No. 6 Print

As a child, Albert recalls there were many tropical flowering plants in the neighborhood where he grew up in the Philippines. In his Sunbathing Flower series, he tries to recall beautiful memories of those flowers when they were basking in the sunlight throughout the day. His flower paintings show they are rising out of the dark, a manifestation of his desire and hope to have a better life and environment for everyone. The impressionist style with quick fluid brushstrokes captures the warm sunlight and gentle breeze enjoyed by the flowers. The perspective effects of composition, color, and tonal values creating impressions of depth draws the viewer inside the painting, letting the viewer share in the experience of savoring sunlight and feeling the gentle breeze.
