ABOUT THE ARTWORK

In this work, I sought to capture the quietude of a gentle awakening. Using ink for its fluidity, I superimposed translucent layers to create a landscape where realism and reverie meet. Pastel shades suggest the first light of day, evoking hope and renewal. This piece is a breath of serenity, bringing subtle harmony and comforting calm to your home.

"The painter gets impression from some phase of nature...he simplifies and eliminates until he knows exactly what stirred him, sets this down in color and line and so translates his impression into aesthethic emotion" David Milne My favorite theme is landscape, which marks me and takes a new form in my eyes. In my landscapes the human figure is not represented because the viewer is invited to immerse himself in the space of the work by soliciting his senses. It is an invitation to question the boundaries of the notion of landscape and that of figuration, a questioning of the relationship between man and nature. Each painting is a passage towards a new process which allows me transitions with my previous work. I evolve between different styles, mixing abstraction and figuration. My creative process is nourished by a continuous change of perception. The variations in style reflect the shifts in my expression.I use oil paint because it opens an infinite field of possibilities to explore textures, colors, harmonies and contrasts. I start by painting in thin layers of glaze. I work the paint in its thickness, which nourishes my canvas and accentuates the texture. I stop when I can't add anything more, once the paint has come to life. I usually work on several canvas at the same time and there is always a blank canvas next to me, ready for any new burst of inspiration.
