About The Artwork
"Sunflower Burst" is a stunningly visual expression of passion, using a single Sunflower to convey the vibrant energies of love and joy through complementary color dynamics. Multiple intricate colors - white, deep purple, crimson, yellow specks - were applied with a tiny coral sponge over a vast brilliant blue background. Many foreground petals were then added with ink veins drawn in first, then painted over in a mix of Cadmium Red Light and Quinacridone Red. Alternate foreground petals were painted in Medium Magenta. The combination creates an extraordinary visual vibrancy. The Red petals all have varying amounts of Iridescent Gold Pigment Flakes on top. The central "seed" area, combines Cadmium Orange and Yellows worked over in glazes repeatedly, leaving a final stunning color and bumpy texture that catches and reflects lighting to give a visual feel of Sunflower seeds. This artwork is mailed unstretched in a sturdy tube, with no hardware for hanging but ready to stretch and frame according to a buyer's personal taste. The painted area measures 48 x 48 inches square on high-quality canvas, with a 2-1/2 inch blank border on all four sides for stretching. The highest quality materials are used throughout: Golden acrylics, Daler-Rowney ink, Aardvark gold flakes, Golden Soft Gel medium and Golden final varnish coat.
