After a day of exploring and hiking through Flores, Indonesia in 2015, this sunset stopped me in my tracks. Sitting on the bank of this quiet of this quaint fishing town, I remember thinking- I must paint this moment. I reflected on the stark contrast of dark and light of this sunset personifying how starkly the touristy, bustling city of Bali compared to the humble serenity of this small island nation. For those that dare venture off the beaten path, serene moments like this make it all worth it. I hope this water sunset brings you the same sense of humility and peace I felt painting it. The original oil painting I created on fine rives paper while breathing in the ocean air of Miami in 2017 to keep that "ahh" feeling alive while I brought it to life. Thank you for looking at my work.
