About Spring Exhibition Series: " What these paintings of the Spring Exhibition Series try to do is to push impressionism forward toward Matisse; having a very daring courtship with colours and the simplicity of lines and forms, then to move even further closer to the language of Howard Hodgkin, making my new works under this lineage of less about the realistic representation, much more about the colours and its meaning behind the brushstrokes, to celebrate the power of imaginary spaces. - These two masters, Matisse and Hodgkin are at the two ends of the dial, and in between is my playground for this new Series. " ----Shizico Yi March 2023 About the Artist: Shizico Yi is available with our studio GSY Gallery or on her website, Dr. Shizico Yi is a London based artist, working on installations, films and paintings; the documentary nature of her work often concerns the loss, repetition, the everyday subject and memories. With a design and film background, Yi combines her interests making installation projects which relate to artist's personal life in relation to the society and human condition at large. Shizico Yi holds a PhD in Fine Art awarded by UEL, UK and a Master in Fine Art with a BA in Womenswear from UAL, London.
